Venice is one of those ‘must-see’ destinations. It’s so popular it’s usually packed with tourists. That’s why I decided to visit Venice in winter.
In the summer I visited some of the Saronic islands of Greece, with a few days in Athens bolted on at the end. I travelled with the tour company Medsailors, my second ever trip on my own, and I loved every minute of it. In Athens I had time to visit the Acropolis, and it’s accompanying museum, as well as the Panathenaic Stadium and the famous Monastiraki flea market.
Mallorca has been very close to my heart for over a decade. I return year after year and each time am blown away by its beauty. Porto Cristo especially has come to feel like a second home for me but I also like to visit some of the surrounding towns like Cala Ratjada, Cala Millor and Portocolom. This year I also made the effort to visit the Parc Natural De Mondrago and the historic village of Capdepera.
Mid-May I flew across Europe to Croatia and spent 8 glorious days exploring the magic the Dalmatian coast has to offer. Croatia has always been a country at the top of my list, even before the ‘Game of Thrones’ hype. The trip was spectacular, made all the more special by the fact it was my first ever solo trip. Now I just need to go back to see the Plitvice Lakes National Park and Krka!
